About the Fire Safety Branch

The Fire Safety Branch is responsible for building a safer community for NSW by minimising the potential consequences of fires and other emergencies. This is achieved through the provision of fire safety measures commensurate with identified risks, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and legislative obligations.

The Fire Safety Branch is part of the Community Safety Directorate, and comprises fire safety officers (firefighters), engineers, building surveyors and administration staff in the following business units:
