Yesterday at 5:38pm Fire and Rescue NSW crews from Tweed Heads Fire Station received a call to a unit fire on Binya Ave, Tweed Heads.
FRNSW crews gained entry and using a thermal imaging camera quickly found a clothes dryer on fire.
Crews extinguished quickly and rendered safe.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) has urged the public to stay out of harm this winter by following these simple safety steps when using your dryer:
• Clean your lint filter before each use.
• Never leave the dryer operating when you leave the house or
when sleeping.
• Ensure there is adequate air flow around your dryer.
A fire can take hold in minutes, yet it only takes seconds to prevent one. Take action to stay out of harm this winter.
