Published: 14 Oct 2020 07:55pm
At approximately 8pm, 14 October, Fire and Rescue NSW crews responded to multiple Triple Zero (000) calls reporting a house fire on the Old Hume Highway, Braemar.
Upon arrival, firefighters from Mittagong, Bowral and Moss Vale Fire Stations found the home well alight with flames and thick smoke issuing from the structure.
Firefighters were unable to enter the structure initially due to intense flames and used hose lines from outside the property to control the blaze.
The building was severely damaged with substantial collapse occurring.
No-one was home at the time of the incident and no injuries were reported.
NSW Police were also in attendance as both lanes of traffic out of town were blocked for an extended period of time.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said FRNSW is attending numerous house fires and that it was a timely reminder for residents to develop their fire escape plan.
"Now is the time for residents to check they have a working smoke alarm and that all members of the family have an awareness of calling Triple Zero (000) in an emergency," he said.
