Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) extinguished a fire in a multistorey unit block in Eastlakes today.

Crews immediately began to fight the fire and search for occupants in the units.
The fire was contained to one unit and all occupants had self-evacuated.
Two people were treated on scene for smoke inhalation by NSW Ambulance.
More than 50 firefighters and 12 fire trucks were on scene.
All eastbound lanes on Gardiners Road were closed by NSW Police for the duration of the emergency incident.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) for a fire emergency can be the difference between life and death, or a building or other property being saved or destroyed.
The Triple Zero (000) service is the quickest way to get the right resources from emergency services to help you. It should be used to contact Police, Fire or Ambulance services in life-threatening or time-critical situations.
