Published: 27 Apr 2022 05:20pm
Fire and Rescue NSW crews have helped police locate the body of a person after a house fire at Ben Lomond, in the state's north.
Three FRNSW trucks rushed to the New England Highway home, 40-kilometres south of Glen Innes, joining Police, the Rural Fire Service and Ambulance paramedics around 1.15 this morning.
The two-bedroom house was destroyed by the fire.
Structural damage initially prevented fire crews from searching the site.
A resident was unaccounted for.
The body was found during a search of the property this afternoon.
Authorities are trying to confirm the cause of the blaze, which is not considered suspicious.
It's the second house fire death within 24 hours and one of 13 home blazes since Sunday in New South Wales, prompting Fire and Rescue NSW to urge the public to be extra cautious during the colder months to avoid further tragedy.
