FRNSW crews prevent unit fire from spreading - Tweed Heads

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) has extinguished a unit fire on the NSW Far North Coast, preventing it from spreading to neighbouring units.
Around 6:30am, multiple Triple Zero (000) calls alerted crews to the blaze on Honeysuckle Street in Tweed Heads.
More than 20 FRNSW firefighters responded, confronted by flames pouring out of the second storey of the building and a large plume of smoke.
An occupant made it outside before the fire took hold, with others in the complex also evacuated.
FRNSW crews battled the blaze for 40 minutes, assisted by an aerial pumper from Queensland as they contained the fire to the unit of origin.
NSW Police and NSW Ambulance were also in attendance.
An investigation is now underway into the cause and origin of the fire.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) for a fire emergency can be the difference between life and death, or a building or other property being saved or destroyed.
The Triple Zero (000) service is the quickest way to get the right resources from emergency services to help you. It should be used to contact Police, Fire or Ambulance services in life-threatening or time-critical situations.
