Major flooding impacts apartment building - Lane Cove North

Published: 30 Sep 2022 03:39pm

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews have responded to major flooding inside an apartment building on Sydney's Lower North Shore.

Around 6:30am today, a hot water pipe burst on the third level of the building on Mowbray Road West, Lane Cove North.

The rupture caused the ceiling in one apartment to collapse, and water to also impact the two floors below it.

Water and electricity supplies have now been shut-off, with residents evacuated until the safety of those utilities is fully assessed.

FRNSW firefighters have also helped remove sodden materials, including carpet and furniture, and to contain the flow of water through the apartments.

Strata management is continuing the clean-up.
