Published: 04 Oct 2022 02:43pm
Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews are working to extinguish a large fire in a row of a shops in Sydney's south.
The blaze broke out around 11:30am at the intersection of Geeves Lane and the Princes Highway in Rockdale.
More than 16 fire trucks, including two ladder appliances, and 70 firefighters were called to the scene.
Several shops have been impacted by fire on the upper level, while other businesses have sustained heat and smoke damage.
Crews have now contained the fire.
Due to concerns about the stability of the building, firefighters haven't been able to enter the complex to extinguish the fire. It's expected this could take several hours to complete.
FRNSW's Fire Investigation and Research Unit (FIRU) will then try to determine the cause of the incident.
