Neighbouring properties protected following house fire - Wallsend
Published: 26 Oct 2022 05:00pm
Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) has protected neighbouring properties following a house fire in Wallsend in Newcastle.
Numerous Triple Zero (000) calls were received about smoke issuing from windows at the rear of the property in Harriet Street around 2.30 pm.
On arrival, crews found a house well alight with flames through the roof.
More than 30 firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and contain it to the house of origin.
An exclusion zone was established due to structural collapse and there were no reported injuries.
FRNSW was assisted on scene by NSW Police and NSW Ambulance.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) for a fire emergency can be the difference between life and death, or a building or other property being saved or destroyed.
The Triple Zero (000) service is the quickest way to get the right resources from emergency services to help you. It should be used to contact Police, Fire or Ambulance services in life-threatening or time-critical situations.
