Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) specialists have teamed up with NSW Ambulance Special Casualty Access Team (SCAT) paramedics to reach a man, trapped on a ledge by floodwaters today at Tahmoor, south-west of Sydney.
The 20-year-old man found himself stranded on rocks above Mermaid Pool, around 3.30pm.
He was unable to climb the rock face to safety due to fast-moving floodwaters.
Special FRNSW Heavy Rescue experts joined the SCAT paramedics, NSW Police and the Rural Fire Service at the scene.
The emergency services set-up a rope hauling system and lowered a FRNSW firefighter to the swimmer.
A life jacket was fitted to the man before he was lifted to the top of the cliff, uninjured but possibly suffering light hypothermia.
