FRNSW crews extinguish major fire engulfing two houses in Sydney's west - West Hoxton
Published: 21 Nov 2022 01:28pm
More than 50 Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) firefighters have extinguished a fire which engulfed two neighbouring homes today in Sydney's west.
The blaze broke out at the rear of one of the properties on Temma Place and St Marys Street, West Hoxton, shortly before 11:30am.
FRNSW crews, assisted by the NSW Rural Fire Service, arrived on-scene within minutes of being alerted and immediately began attacking the flames.
The incident resulted in several small explosions and sent smoke drifting across the suburb.
Strong winds fanned the fire, causing it to spread to the second home.
Firefighters managed to stop it from impacting a third home which also came under threat.
A woman, who had been inside one of the homes, escaped before the fire took hold.
She was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics but did not require further treatment.
FRNSW crews remain on-scene, dousing hotspots and investigating the cause of the fire.
