Fire and Rescue (FRNSW) extinguished a fire at a single-level home at Lidcombe in Western Sydney yesterday afternoon.

Firefighters in breathing equipment quickly controlled the blaze as the home was well alight with large amounts of smoke issuing from the roof when crews arrived at Georges Avenue Just after 3:00 PM.

Crews extinguished the fire which had spread from the bedroom into the roof and caused severe fire damage to the home.

All 6 occupants self-evacuated and no injuries were reported.

NSW Police and NSW Ambulance were also in attendance.

Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said FRNSW is attending numerous house fires and that it was a timely reminder for residents to develop their fire escape plan.

"Now is the time for residents to check they have a working smoke alarm and that all members of the family have an awareness of calling Triple Zero (000) in an emergency," he said.
