Garage Fire - Macquarie Links

Published: 23 Dec 2021 01:24am

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews have stopped a garage fire spreading to an adjacent house at Macquarie Links in Sydney's south-west.

Firefighters arrived at the Homestead Circuit address just before 1.30am today and scrambled to douse flames tearing through the roof of the double garage.

Prior to the arrival of eight fire trucks, neighbours knocked on the front door of the adjoining two-storey home and roused the occupants, who escaped to safety.

It took crews around an hour to extinguish the blaze which badly damaged the garage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) for an emergency can be the difference between life and death.

The Triple Zero (000) service is the quickest way to get the right resources from emergency services to help you. It should be used to contact Police, Fire or Ambulance services in life-threatening or time-critical situations.
