Skydiving Accident - North Wollongong

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) have rescued two people after a skydiving accident on the beach at North Wollongong.
The tandem skydivers were attempting to land on the beach near Stuart Park on Cliff Road.
A sudden gust of wind pushed them off course and they clipped a Norfolk Island pine tree, causing them to land heavily on the sand.
Fire crews used a piece of equipment referred to as "Mule," basically a stretcher on wheels, to transport the most seriously injured male from the beach to an ambulance where he was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
Both males were treated and transported to hospital.
Police also attended and SafeWork NSW is investigating.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) when you are involved in or see a crash can be the difference between life and death.
The Triple Zero (000) service is the quickest way to get the right resources from emergency services to help you. It should be used to contact Police, Fire or Ambulance services in life-threatening or time-critical situations.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said a large amount of electrical energy is discharged when lightning strikes a house, tree or car.
Community members are urged to keep up to date with local weather events that may impact their area.
"During a storm, stay indoors where possible to protect yourself, your loved ones and your pets. However, in the event of a fire, get out, stay out and call Triple Zero (000).”
