Scissor Lift Rescue - Villawood

Published: 31 Dec 2021 01:14pm

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) has rescued a man, trapped on a scissor lift, 10-metres off the ground, at Villawood in Sydney's south-west.

Rescue personnel were called to the emergency just after 1pm in Llewellyn Avenue.

Fire crews attempted to lower the man using the manual override controls but the scissor lift would not budge.

The Ladder Platform from Parramatta Fire Station was required to rescue the stranded worker and place him gently back on the ground.

Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) when you are involved in or see a crash can be the difference between life and death.

The Triple Zero (000) service is the quickest way to get the right resources from emergency services to help you. It should be used to contact Police, Fire or Ambulance services in life-threatening or time-critical situations.

Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said a large amount of electrical energy is discharged when lightning strikes a house, tree or car.

Community members are urged to keep up to date with local weather events that may impact their area.

"During a storm, stay indoors where possible to protect yourself, your loved ones and your pets. However, in the event of a fire, get out, stay out and call Triple Zero (000).”
