A car has crashed into a house, causing severe structural damage, at Emerton in Sydney's west.
Three Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews arrived at the Copeland Road home around 1.30pm today and found the driver, conscious but bleeding.
As smoke issued from the vehicle, electricity and gas supplies were cut to prevent the home catching fire.
Firefighters administered first aid to the driver while waiting for NSW Ambulance paramedics.
The cause of the incident is yet to be determined.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) when you are involved in or see a crash can be the difference between life and death.
The Triple Zero (000) service is the quickest way to get the right resources from emergency services to help you. It should be used to contact Police, Fire or Ambulance services in life-threatening or time-critical situations.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said a large amount of electrical energy is discharged when lightning strikes a house, tree or car.
Community members are urged to keep up to date with local weather events that may impact their area.
"During a storm, stay indoors where possible to protect yourself, your loved ones and your pets. However, in the event of a fire, get out, stay out and call Triple Zero (000).”
