The NSW Government has unveiled its latest aerial firefighting truck for Fire and Rescue NSW, a 'Bronto' Skylift ladder platform, capable of providing greater access during high-rise emergencies across the Sydney CBD and lower North Shore.
The Bronto's ladder can extend 45 metres, higher than any other fire appliance in Australia, enabling FRNSW firefighters to reach emergencies up to 15 storeys in height.
Minister for Emergency Services and Resilience, Steph Cooke, said, "The addition of the new Bronto is part of the government's $37m investment in FRNSW's aerial fleet.
FRNSW Commissioner, Paul Baxter, revealed the state-of-the-art appliance is one of 15 new aerial vehicles joining the fleet, ensuring Fire and Rescue remains prepared for anything, anytime, anywhere.
Minister Cooke and the Member for North Shore, Felicity Wilson MP, both took up the Commissioner's offer to ride the Crows Nest Bronto, grabbing a bird's eye view of the North Sydney skyline.
