Building Fire - Narromine
Published: 20 Feb 2022 05:01am
Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) and Rural Fire Service crews have combined to extinguish a blaze in a community hall this morning at Narromine, west of Dubbo.
The first of six FRNSW trucks arrived at the scene around 5am to find the hall in Meringo Street on fire.
Authorities evacuated neighbouring homes as the roof collapsed.
Crews, wearing breathing apparatus, battled the blaze from several sides.
The fire was extinguished by 7:33 am.
The hall suffered severe damage.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) for a fire emergency can be the difference between life and death, or a building or other property being saved or destroyed.
The Triple Zero (000) service is the quickest way to get the right resources from emergency services to help you. It should be used to contact Police, Fire or Ambulance services in life-threatening or time-critical situations.
