Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) has sent in another wave of strike teams to help flood-affected communities on the State’s North Coast.
Six strike teams from Sydney arrived late yesterday at the base of operations at Wollongbar TAFE, near Alstonville, along with a seventh strike team, made up of local personnel.
More than 120 firefighters are relieving exhausted FRNSW personnel who have been on the ground over the past four days, helping residents and businesses throughout the region.
The strike teams will be deployed to Casino, Tweed, Kyogle, Murwillumbah, Iluka and Lismore.
Firefighters will continue to clean out properties, undertake rapid damage assessments and deal with hazardous materials incidents.
In total, FRNSW has more than 400 personnel working daily to assist impacted communities. This includes 360 firefighters on the front line and 45 specialist Incident Management Officers.
