Weighbridge Fire - Culcairn
Published: 31 Mar 2022 03:11pm
Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) today responded to a building fire at Culcairn in the state's Riverina.
An abandoned weighbridge building on Railway Parade caught fire just before midday.
Fire crews prevented the fire spreading to an adjoining silo.
FRNSW quickly extinguished the fire and were assisted by NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS) which provided an extra water supply.
Firefighters conducted atmospheric monitoring of the building to ensure the environment was safe from contaminants.
NSW Police were in attendance.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) for a fire emergency can be the difference between life and death, or a building or other property being saved or destroyed.
The Triple Zero (000) service is the quickest way to get the right resources from emergency services to help you. It should be used to contact Police, Fire or Ambulance services in life-threatening or time-critical situations.
