A Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crew has helped to rescue a driver, trapped in car struck by a tree at Singleton, in the state's Hunter Valley.
A rescue pumper from Singleton Fire Station joined police, Ambulance Rescue and State Emergency Service personnel at the scene in John Street around 5.15pm yesterday and found the woman pinned in the car by the large tree.
She had suffered a sore shoulder and cuts in the incident, caused by a wild storm that struck the area.
The emergency crews, using a chainsaw, removed parts of the toppled tree to reach and free the driver, who was transported to hospital for treatment to her injuries.
