FRNSW crews battle house fire - Griffith

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) firefighters have extinguished flames that destroyed a house in the state's Riverina region this morning.
The abandoned property on Heath Crescent in Griffith was already well alight when FRNSW crews were called to the scene around 7am.
Firefighters searched the house to confirm no one was inside at the time.
Gas and power supplies were switched off to ensure the safety of emergency services and the public.
The blaze was so fierce it took an hour and a half to contain and extinguish.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said FRNSW is attending numerous house fires and that it was a timely reminder for residents to develop their fire escape plan.
"Now is the time for residents to check they have a working smoke alarm and that all members of the family have an awareness of calling Triple Zero (000) in an emergency," he said.
