Fire and Rescue NSW at the scene of fatal head-on crash - Bywong

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) is urging motorists to avoid the scene of a fatal truck and car crash on the Federal Highway at Bywong, north-east of Canberra, this morning.
The head-on crash, involving a B-double and two cars happened, just before 7.30am, resulting in a hazardous materials emergency, with a large oil and diesel spill from ruptured fuel tanks and debris strewn across the area.
A person in one of the cars was killed in the crash.
NSW Ambulance has provided emergency medical care to two other motorists who sustained minor injuries.
The Federal Highway has been closed to traffic in both directions.
FRNSW is being assisted at the scene by multiple emergency services including ACT Fire and Rescue.
Police and emergency service operations at the scene are expected to take most of the day.
Superintendent Adam Dewberry from Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) said this is a timely reminder that calling Triple Zero (000) when you are involved in or see a crash can be the difference between life and death.
The Triple Zero (000) service is the quickest way to get the right resources from emergency services to help you. It should be used to contact Police, Fire or Ambulance services in life-threatening or time-critical situations.
