Dozens of school children escape bus fire in Sydney's south-west - Revesby

Published: 10 Feb 2023 04:20pm

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews have determined a mechanical fault may have sparked a school bus fire in Sydney's south-west today.

39 students, two teachers and their driver were travelling to a swimming carnival when the fire broke out on Weston Street, Revesby, just before 9am.

All onboard the vehicle safely evacuated before the flames took hold.

FRNSW firefighters quickly arrived on scene and extinguished the fire, with additional crews called in to contain a fuel leak.

Several students were assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene, but none were transported to hospital.

A replacement bus later transported the school group to their carnival.

The cause of the fire is not being treated as suspicious.
