Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews are currently on scene at a house fire in Busby, in Sydney's south west.

Just after 2.45pm this afternoon, firefighters arrived at the two-level home in Aberdeen Road to find a large section of the second-storey well alight.

Firefighters quickly got to work to extinguish and contain the blaze.

Around 25 firefighters and six fire trucks, including an aerial ladder platform, were called to the incident, and crews are expected to remain in attendance for some time.

The home had a working smoke alarm, and it had activated.

The occupant was able to safely evacuate, however they were treated by NSW Ambulance Paramedics on scene, and transported to hospital for further assessment.

Firefighters have contained the fire to the second level, however it is significantly damaged, and the ground floor has suffered heat and smoke damage.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, however it is believed that the fire started in the kitchen on the second level of the home.
