Firefighters save house and two pet bunnies in possible Lithium battery blaze - Kings Langley
Published: 10 Aug 2023 04:55pm
Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews have saved a house and two pet rabbits from a possible Lithium battery fire this afternoon in Sydney's west.
The blaze broke out around 2.40pm in the garage of the home in Solander Road, Kings Langley.
Two occupants made it safely out of the two-storey house and alerted firefighters about their pet bunnies, still inside.
As other fire crews prevented flames spreading throughout the dwelling, a team of firefighters, wearing breathing apparatus, entered the home and retrieved the frightened animals, hiding under furniture in a room next to the garage.
One of the crewmembers, Firefighter Phoebe Seamer, said, "The seven-month-old female bunnies, named "Oreo" and "Vanilla," have been reunited, unharmed, with their very happy owners."
The flames were contained to the garage where they severely damaged two cars.
FRNSW is examining the scene, suspecting a Lithium battery on charge may have been responsible for the blaze.
