Published: 30 Mar 2023 02:38pm

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews are battling a ruptured gas line that's caught alight at Bilgola, on Sydney's northern beaches.

A road crew was carrying out works on Plateau Road around 9.45am when the line was ruptured and the gas ignited.

The flames quickly spread to a road re-surfacing machine and nearby prime mover.

Three FRNSW crews rushed to the scene and attacked the blaze with lines of hose.

NSW Police are at the scene, along with gas company technicians who are trying to shut off the supply.
