Major traffic impacts as truck catches fire on Anzac Bridge - Pyrmont
Published: 11 Mar 2024 12:32pm
Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) crews have extinguished a fire which has engulfed a truck on the Anzac Bridge at Pyrmont, in Sydney's inner suburbs.
The flatbed truck, carrying stone and plastic, was travelling in a citybound lane of the carriageway when the load caught alight just before 10:30am.
A passing motorist spotted flames just behind the cabin and alerted the truck driver, who immediately pulled over and exited the vehicle.
He tried using portable extinguishers to douse the blaze; however, it quickly spread throughout the truck.
FRNSW was alerted to the incident and deployed 12 firefighters, and three fire trucks, to the scene.
They brought the fire under control in less than 20 minutes, extinguishing it a short time later.
An investigation is now underway into what sparked the fire.
